Can evening primrose oil be useful in the battle against cellulite?

Primrose oil and Cellulite

If you are one of the 90 to 95% of women who have the unfortunate experience of see areas of wrinkled fat appearing on the lower limbs of you body you are already familiar with the problem popularly known as cellulite.

This skin condition can begin at any time after puberty although it is usually associated with the years approaching and immediately after the menopause. Although regular doctors are inclined to view it as plain old obesity and recommend an exercise and diet approach to follow experts in alternative medicine and beauty care believe cellulite has deeper roots and that the primary cause is an excess of toxins in the body.

Thus while exercise and diet changes can be helpful in so far as they improve the body’s capabilities for toxin removal, on their own they might not be enough to start to heal or even to hold back the advance of cellulite.

A range of natural treatments for cellulite have been introduced. They have many advantages when compared to trying to remove cellulite through the use of synthetic medications or even surgery.

Evening primrose oil is an excellent example of a readily-available and inexpensive herbal-based cure that is known to deliver results. As the name suggest, this oil is extracted from the seeds of this yellow flower which is found in many countries. The extracted oil contains a fatty acid named gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and this has been found to be particularly beneficial in breaking up cellulite concentrations.

Evening primrose oil rarely has any side effects while it contains many valuable properties to help cure damaged skin and improve general skill health. Cellulite sufferers have noticed that massaging affected areas of skin with primrose oil can help significantly reducing wrinkled cellulite skin, hydrating dried out skin and improving its firmness. To get the full benefits taking the evening primrose oil soft gel is also recommended.

Claims have been advanced that evening primrose oil can help the body resist the onset of aging although further studies are required before any definite conclusions can be drawn in this regard.

Evening primrose oil is one of the key ingredients in the cellulite herbal remedy known as Cellasene. The developer of this remedy, Dr Gianfranco Merizzi, described to the BBC in 1999 (Tuesday, March 9th) how cellasene can repair the blood vessels in the areas where cellulite is found and in this way it helps improve blood circulation and increase the burning up of fat deposits.
